Burbank Coffee Shops

We started our college visit trip at the HGI in Burbank after flying to the airport there. We are returning to that same hotel tomorrow before flying home. We are cancelling our last college visit (parents and child changed their minds about that particular college). We now have extra time on our hands. Child needs a place to do homework and college apps before we can check in to the HGI, presumably around 3:00. We were thinking that a coffee shop would be a nice place to do homework. I realize I can do a search for coffee shops in Burbank, but a search will not give me a good picture of which shops have really nice, comfortable seating options. This is kind of a long shot, but does anyone have recommendations for such a place? Thanks!

Burbank has several coffee shops that are great for getting homework and college applications done, offering comfortable seating, quiet atmospheres, and reliable Wi-Fi. Here are some options to consider:

Top recommended coffee shops for studying:

  • Porto’s Bakery & Cafe – While known for its pastries, Porto’s has a few seating areas that can be quieter during off-peak hours. The environment is bright and welcoming, though it can get busy on weekends.
  • Verve Coffee Roasters – A modern coffee shop with good Wi-Fi and plenty of table space. It has a relaxed atmosphere suitable for focused work, and the seating is comfortable with some spots ideal for laptop use.
  • The Front Room Coffee – A smaller, cozy cafe with a quiet ambiance, perfect for studying or doing applications. They have some tables with power outlets for laptops.
  • Blacktop Coffee – Spacious with minimalist decor and calm environment, this is a favorite among students and remote workers looking for uninterrupted time to work.
  • Stories Books & Cafe – Combines a bookstore with a coffee shop. Comfortable seating, ambient light, and a quiet atmosphere make it an ideal place to focus on homework or applications.

Tips for your visit:

  • Arrive in the mid-morning or early afternoon to avoid peak crowds, especially since you’ll be on a tight schedule before hotel check-in.
  • Bring headphones if your child prefers a quieter environment for concentration.
  • Check whether the coffee shop has power outlets if laptops need charging.

Overall, Burbank offers a mix of chain and independent coffee shops, many of which are well-suited for a short but productive work session. For your purposes, Verve Coffee Roasters or Stories Books & Cafe are probably the best balance of space, Wi-Fi, and quiet atmosphere.
