early transfers in July?
Hi.
We are staying in Breckenridge next summer
our flight from Denver leaves at 9.45am.
Our only option at the minute is get a transfer on the last shuttle the day before and spend the night at an airport hotel.
It doesnt look like Epic or Peak 1 do transfers to get us to the airport at 7am.
We dont drive
So does anyone know of any other option other than a $600 private tranfer.
thanks
Getting from Breckenridge to Denver International Airport (DEN) early in the morning without driving can be challenging, especially for a 9:45 a.m. flight that requires you to arrive by around 7:00 a.m. Most shared shuttle services from Summit County do not operate early enough to get you there the same day. Still, you do have a few workable options.
Your understanding is correct: Epic Mountain Express and Peak 1 Express generally do not offer shared shuttle departures early enough to get you to DEN by 7:00 a.m. in July. This leaves travelers either taking a very early private shuttle or heading to Denver the night before and staying at an airport hotel.
Below are the realistic options given your circumstances and time of year.
- Stay in Denver the night before (most common + most reliable)
This is what most non-drivers from Breckenridge choose for early flights. You can take an afternoon or evening shuttle from Breckenridge to Denver, stay at an airport hotel, and take the hotel shuttle to the terminal in the morning. It’s the least stressful option and avoids mountain traffic or delays.
- Check Peak 1 Express for updated schedules
Peak 1 sometimes adds earlier shared shuttle runs during peak summer. Their published schedule often shifts in late spring. It’s worth checking again closer to your trip, though it’s never guaranteed.
- Use a hybrid option: shuttle to Denver → rideshare to airport
You could take the latest shuttle the evening before to downtown Denver (Union Station or hotels served by shuttle companies) and then get a Lyft/Uber to the airport early in the morning. This may save money compared to staying at an airport hotel.
- $600 private transfer (not ideal but available)
Private transfers can pick you up at any time you choose, including 3–4 a.m. for a morning flight. They are reliable but very costly, as you noted.
Two additional possibilities depend on your flexibility:
- Arrive at the airport the night before
If you don’t mind spending most of the night at DEN (many do this to save money), you could take the last Breckenridge → DEN shuttle and sleep or rest at the terminal. This avoids hotel costs but isn’t comfortable for everyone.
- Take a shuttle to Frisco → Bustang → Denver → A-Line
This is a multi-step public transit route. However, it will not work for an early-morning airport arrival because Bustang and most connecting services don’t run that early. Still, it can work the day before to get you to Denver for an overnight stay.
In summary: without driving, the only reliable option for your 9:45 a.m. flight is to travel to Denver the day before and stay overnight. It is the standard solution for early flights out of DEN from Summit County and the one locals and frequent visitors use most often.
If your schedule is fixed and you cannot stay in Denver the night before, the $600 private transfer becomes the only same-day option—but it’s rarely worth the cost.
