Looking for hotel recommendations in central location

I’m looking for a hotel in a central location, close to where I can get buses (direct) to the airport and buses to Macau, as well as connect to the subway.

Any suggestions?

For a central location in Hong Kong that offers convenient access to both airport buses and buses to Macau, as well as good subway connections, the key areas to focus on are Tsim Sha Tsui, Jordan, Mong Kok, and Wan Chai. These neighborhoods are well-connected and offer plenty of hotel options to suit different budgets.

Recommended areas and considerations:

  • Tsim Sha Tsui: Very popular with tourists, near the Star Ferry, Harbour City Mall, and many restaurants. It has easy access to the Airport Express bus (A21) and buses to Macau can be taken from nearby ferry terminals. MTR Tsim Sha Tsui Station connects you to the rest of the city.
  • Jordan / Yau Ma Tei: Slightly less touristy than Tsim Sha Tsui, but still very central. Offers good access to buses to both the airport and Macau, plus easy MTR connections.
  • Mong Kok: Known for shopping, markets, and dining. Close to Mong Kok MTR Station which connects to most areas. Airport buses can be accessed via nearby stops, but buses to Macau will usually require a short transfer to ferry terminals.
  • Wan Chai: On Hong Kong Island, convenient for buses to the airport (Citybus/Airport Express nearby) and direct ferries to Macau from the nearby Hong Kong-Macau Ferry Terminal. Also well-connected via MTR to Central and other areas.

Hotel recommendations in these areas (mid-range to upscale, depending on your budget):

  • Regal Kowloon Hotel – Tsim Sha Tsui, close to Nathan Road and easy access to airport buses.
  • Butterfly on Prat – Tsim Sha Tsui, boutique style with a central location.
  • Hotel Jen Hong Kong – Wan Chai, near the ferry terminal and MTR.
  • Ibis Hong Kong Central & Sheung Wan – great for first-time visitors, very central, close to MTR, tram, and ferry connections.
  • The Kowloon Hotel – Jordan/Tsim Sha Tsui area, convenient for shopping and buses.

Tips:

  • Check proximity to the Airport Express bus stops (A21 or direct hotel shuttle) if you want to minimize travel time to the airport.
  • For Macau, staying closer to the ferry terminals in Wan Chai or Tsim Sha Tsui is more convenient.
  • Make reservations early, especially for hotels in Tsim Sha Tsui and Wan Chai, as they can fill up quickly.

Overall, Tsim Sha Tsui is the most versatile choice for first-time visitors, offering shopping, dining, ferry access to Macau, and bus connections to the airport, while Wan Chai is better if you want slightly quieter surroundings with easy ferry access.
