Wat That Thong was created by combining two original temples:
- Wat Na Phra That
- Wat Thong Lang

Both temples are located on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, Pak Khlong Bangkok Noi area, Thonburi side. Later, the land was expropriated by the government around 1937 to build the Southern Railway Line. The villagers had to move the temple to a new location on Sukhumvit Road, using the new name "Wat That Thong", which is a combination of the names of both original temples.

The ordination hall is large and elegant, decorated with intricate Thai patterns, making the ordination hall very beautiful.
