Chiayi Beixianghu Park: A Rich Plant Ecosystem and a Fun Children's Playground!

I've been to Chiayi so many times but never visited this place before.
This park is enormous—it's impossible to explore it all in one go.
Looking at the map, a large section of the park is dedicated to a botanical garden.

We parked our car in the parking lot and walked halfway around the lake.
The ecosystem here is incredibly diverse, with various plants, insects, and ponds.
I even spotted three green iguanas! 😅😅
The downside is that it's quite hot here, so remember to wear sunscreen.

At the center of the park, there's a playground called "Green Bean and Job's Tears Playground," which is quite interesting.
The name is a playful nod to Chiayi locals, as "green bean and Job's tears" is a well-known joke. 🤣

The playground features a bowl-shaped slide.
Some map reviews mentioned complaints about it being too fast and dangerous, but watching kids play on it, it seemed fine—perhaps they've improved it.
There's also a tall climbing net that's pretty fun.
You can even play a whack-a-mole game here! Haha.
Underneath, there's a sandpit, with some areas shaded.
Nearby, there's a handwashing station.

What's unique is that next to the playground, there are three wax apple trees.
It's quite special—I saw them up close for the first time.
We even picked some to taste, but they were a bit astringent and lacked juiciness.
Perhaps they weren't fertilized, as the fruits were small.
Overall, this park is great for a family outing, suitable for both the young and the elderly to enjoy nature.
