Child Tickets to Terracotta Warriors

Hello experts,

I will be bringing my kids under 12yo to see the Terracotta Warriors. In Ctrip, adult tickets are selling at 138RMB for a package including ticket to large group guided Terracotta, one way shuttle to LiShan, LiShan entrance fee and snacks. But child tickets are selling at 18RMB for the same package. I tried to select child tickets but require ID numbers. Adult tickets can select passport identification. Is it that for tourists, even for children, they will have to purchase adult tickets as well?

Can i confirm there is a direct tourist bus from Bell Tower to Terracotta Warriors, ticket at 30RMB? And that the buses run every 30min?

Thanks in advance for all replies!

When visiting the Terracotta Warriors in Xi’an, ticket pricing and eligibility for children depend on local regulations and the method of purchase.

Regarding child tickets:

  • Chinese children under 12 years old often qualify for reduced ticket prices at many attractions, but this usually requires a Chinese ID or local identification. For foreign tourists, this can complicate online booking through platforms like Ctrip because they may not accept non-Chinese ID numbers for child tickets.
  • In practice, many travel agencies and ticketing platforms require foreign children to be booked as adults if you cannot provide a Chinese ID. This means your children may need adult tickets for online bookings, even if they qualify for reduced pricing on-site.
  • It is possible to pay the child rate at the ticket counter directly at the Terracotta Warriors site, but you may need to show passports for verification.

About the direct tourist bus from Bell Tower to the Terracotta Warriors:

  • There is a dedicated tourist bus line running from Xi’an Bell Tower to the Terracotta Warriors Museum. The single-trip fare is approximately 30 RMB.
  • The buses generally operate every 30 minutes from early morning until late afternoon, but schedules may vary slightly depending on the season and public holidays.
  • The bus takes about 1 to 1.5 hours each way, depending on traffic.

Recommendations:

  • If traveling with foreign children, it is safest to purchase adult tickets online and inquire at the site if child discounts can be applied upon presenting passports.
  • For convenience and to avoid ID issues, consider taking the direct tourist bus from Bell Tower, which is straightforward and inexpensive.
  • Plan for flexibility, especially if relying on the child discount at the ticket counter, as there may be lines and verification steps.

In summary, online booking for foreign children may require adult tickets, but the direct Bell Tower tourist bus is available for 30 RMB, running approximately every 30 minutes.
