Chiayi Southern Branch of the National Palace Museum (National Palace Museum Southern Branch) is located in Taibao City, Chiayi County. It was established to achieve the goal of "balancing the north and south, and equalizing cultural resources." This national-level museum focuses on Asian art and culture, with its architecture designed by architect Kris Yao. The design draws inspiration from the three brush techniques of ink painting: "dense ink," "flying white," and "blending," resulting in a unique structure that has earned a diamond-level green building certification.
The museum boasts a rich collection, including Chinese artifacts, calligraphy, Buddhist art, textiles, and other Asian cultural relics. Through permanent and special exhibitions, it offers an artistic perspective distinct from the Taipei branch. Spanning 70 hectares, the grounds feature the Zhimei Bridge, an artificial lake, and landscaped gardens, making it a cultural destination that combines education, leisure, and world-class art experiences.
📍 Practical Information:
· Transportation: Take the high-speed rail to "Chiayi Station," then transfer to a bus or shuttle for about 10-15 minutes to reach the museum.
