Located in Higashi Ward, Fukuoka, the Island City Central Park (アイランドシティ中央公園) is a lush green space where nature and learning come together. Its highlight is the “Guringurin”, an experience-based facility that lets visitors get close to subtropical plants and tropical butterflies, including the graceful Oogomadara (Idea leuconoe), also known as the paper kite butterfly.
Inside the glass-covered dome, a warm, humid atmosphere nurtures a variety of tropical flora — palms, ferns, and vividly colored flowers. As you walk along the curved pathways, Oogomadara butterflies flutter gently around you, creating a dreamlike scene that feels straight out of a tropical island.
The park itself also features open lawns, playgrounds, and ponds, making it an ideal weekend destination for families, couples, or anyone seeking a relaxing nature escape without leaving the city.
