Explore the Divine Tribe and Enjoy Cherry Blossoms in Smangus

Smangus, a secluded paradise, is especially enchanting during the cherry blossom season from February to March each year. The welcoming Showa cherry blossoms at the entrance and the cherry blossom tunnel along the mountain trail, with over 2,000 cherry trees in shades of red, white, and pink, are truly mesmerizing.

Smangus boasts a variety of cherry blossoms, including Taiwan's native Wushe cherry and Prunus campanulata, as well as Japanese varieties such as Yoshino cherry and Showa cherry. At an altitude of 1,500 meters, the cherry blossom scenery is completely different from that of the plains, surrounded by towering trees, creating a beautiful and healing atmosphere.

However, Smangus is hidden deep in the mountains and forests of Jianshi Township, Hsinchu, making the journey long and inconvenient. The drive from Neiwan to Smangus is about 60 kilometers and takes approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. Be sure to pay attention to traffic control periods. When visiting Smangus during the cherry blossom season, remember to apply for a pass in advance, as entry is not allowed without one.
