A one-day trip to Arashiyama from Osaka, where there are many attractions, but they're not too far apart.

Tenryu-ji is a spacious temple complex connected to the famous Arashiyama Bamboo Grove.

Built in 1339, the temple was once part of a larger complex with over a hundred smaller temples.

It's famous for its beautiful garden, one of the finest examples of traditional Japanese garden design, and is a World Heritage Site.
