Fangshan Donghu Port Travel Notes

Set off from the city by car at 8 am on September 6, 2022, and the destination is Donghu Port Scenic Area (Shiwudu). Take the Beijing-Shijiazhuang Expressway to the Beijing-Kunming Expressway on the Sixth Ring Road and take the 20-kilometer exit to enter the Shidu Tourist Scenic Area. From the first ferry, the second ferry, the third ferry to the tenth ferry and then to the fifteenth ferry, the beautiful scenery along the way is refreshing.

The small waterwheel keeps turning, as if it never gets tired. Stone piers line the stream for cooling off. From a distance, they resemble floating lotus leaves, but closer inspection reveals them to be small millstones, inviting the urge to step on them and jump. Sit atop a large stone pier by the stream, and admire the breathtaking, golden glow of the rolling hills in the sunlight. Not far away, a cable car constantly ascends and descends, carrying tourists downstream. The rushing sound of the water evokes childhood memories. It's a comfortable place, neither scorching nor cold. From the cable car window, you can admire lush trees and unidentified shrubs, followed by flowing mountain springs as the ride ascends.

The mountains in the distance are green, black and white in the sunlight, which is very beautiful. After getting off the cable car, I looked around and saw a plank road more than one meter wide embedded in the cliff, winding like a auspicious dragon to the top of the mountain, as if there is no end. When I arrived at the first sightseeing platform, I saw a beautiful scenery. After asking the cold drink salesperson, I learned that this place is more than 550 meters above sea level from the foot of the mountain, and is vertically upwards. After another 20 minutes of walking along the plank path, we reached the final viewing platform at the summit. Truly breathtaking scenery awaits. Overlooking the mountains of Kashgar, they appear as if sculpted by nature: lush green trees on one side, golden rocks on the other, their colors shimmering in the sunlight, then white, then yellow. Only after traversing the perilous, steep, and difficult path to the summit can one truly experience this breathtaking scenery. It opens one's heart and forgets all worries.

I saw a section of glass plank road, but I didn’t dare to walk on it, so I could only walk on the relatively flat plank road. We crossed the wobbly, colorful iron chain bridge built on the top of a mountain between two hills and arrived at the sightseeing bus stop to prepare for our descent. We boarded the sightseeing bus and watched the distant mountains gradually disappear, revealing a lush forest. It wasn't long before the bus brought us halfway up the mountain.

When I arrived at the parking lot, I kept looking back at the beautiful Donghu Harbor. It is truly a holiday harbor in Beijing and a great place with endless scenery and a sense of challenge. I will definitely come again next time.
