Whisky a go go seeing a band

There's a tribute band on the dates I'm in Los Angeles inside whisky a go go and I wouldn't mind seeing them.

There is the floor tickets and then there is "table for 2 on balcony" and "barstool table for 2 (row 2)" which I'm interested in. Has anyone sat in the upper floor here? I'm guessing "barstool table for 2 (second row)" is the row behind the tables at the balcony?

What's these seats like? Easy to get drinks and good view?

Whisky a Go Go is a classic LA venue with a small but iconic layout. The main floor is standing room only, often crowded, and is great for an up-close, high-energy experience with the band. However, if you prefer a more relaxed view with seating and easier access to drinks, the balcony options are a good choice.

The balcony has several seating types, including "table for 2 on balcony" and "barstool table for 2 (row 2)." Based on reports from visitors:

  • Table for 2 on balcony: These are fixed tables set near the railing, providing a decent elevated view of the stage. The perspective is good for seeing the whole band, though you’re farther from the action than the floor. Drinks are typically served at your table, making it convenient and more relaxed.
  • Barstool table for 2 (row 2): This is usually behind the first row of balcony tables. You’ll be on barstool-height chairs, which gives you a slightly higher vantage point than the first row of tables. The view is generally good, though the front-row tables may partially block sightlines for shorter people. Drinks are usually easy to get, either from servers or a nearby bar, depending on the night.

Additional notes from visitors:

  • The balcony can be less crowded than the main floor, offering a quieter experience with room to sit and relax.
  • The sound quality is generally good, though some say it’s slightly better on the floor due to proximity to the speakers.
  • Staff can usually bring drinks to balcony tables, but if you’re at a barstool table in the second row, be prepared to wait briefly if servers are busy.
  • For smaller venues like Whisky a Go Go, all balcony seats give you a full view of the stage, but being closer to the railing improves the perspective of the performance.

In summary, the "barstool table for 2 (row 2)" is a solid compromise between comfort, decent stage view, and convenience for drinks. If you want a bit more space and easy access to tables, this is a better choice than the crowded main floor, though you’ll be slightly farther from the action than the first row of balcony tables.
