RoofTop Cafe

I know it's been closed for a couple years now.... it was always one of my faves. did anything take over? any rumors? anything?

The RoofTop Cafe in Key West, which was a popular spot for locals and visitors alike, has been closed for a few years. Many longtime patrons were sad to see it go, as it offered a unique combination of rooftop views and casual dining. As of now, there isn’t a direct replacement operating in the same space.

There have been a few rumors over the years about new businesses taking over the location, but nothing has fully materialized that replicates the RoofTop Cafe experience. Some nearby spots have tried to capture the rooftop dining vibe, but the original charm of RoofTop Cafe—its intimate setting and casual atmosphere—has not been fully replaced.

For alternatives in Key West with similar rooftop or elevated views, you might consider:

  • Hot Tin Roof: A rooftop bar with great views of the harbor, offering cocktails and small bites.
  • Sunset Pier at the Ocean Key Resort: Not exactly a cafe, but an elevated location for drinks and light snacks with sunset views.
  • The Porch Rooftop: Located in Old Town, it offers casual fare and drinks with a rooftop ambiance, though slightly different from the original RoofTop Cafe.

While nothing has truly taken over the RoofTop Cafe space yet, Key West continues to offer several rooftop dining and drinking options that provide elevated views and a fun atmosphere for visitors. Locals often keep an eye on property listings and city permits, so any future developments in that space might eventually bring a new venue in its place.
