Wulingyuan (east) to south entrance
I've stayed in Zhangjiajie before and always took the bus to either the south or east entrance. This time I will be staying at Wulingyuan directly which is located at the east entrance. I prefer entering the park at the south entrance (golden whip) and wonder if there is a bus going from Wulingyuan to the south entrance? Thanks!
If you are staying in Wulingyuan near the east entrance and prefer to enter Zhangjiajie National Forest Park via the south entrance (Golden Whip Stream area), there are convenient transport options available.
Wulingyuan is well connected with shuttle buses that serve both the east and south entrances. The local buses are frequent and designed specifically for tourists visiting the park.
- Shuttle buses from Wulingyuan to the south entrance: You can catch a shuttle from the Wulingyuan bus station or near your hotel area directly to the south entrance. These buses typically run from early morning until late afternoon, approximately every 20–30 minutes during peak season.
- Private taxis or ride-hailing services: If you prefer a faster or more comfortable option, you can hire a taxi or use a local ride-hailing app. The ride takes around 10–15 minutes depending on traffic.
- Tourist shuttle passes: Some hotels in Wulingyuan sell shuttle tickets that include multiple stops in the park area, including both east and south entrances. This can be convenient if you plan to move between entrances during your visit.
Additional tips:
- Check the bus schedule at your hotel or the local tourist information desk, as timings can change depending on the season.
- Have small change ready, as some shuttle buses only accept cash payments.
- If you plan to start at the south entrance, aim to catch an early shuttle to maximize your time in the park and avoid crowds.
In summary, it is straightforward to reach the south entrance from Wulingyuan, and both public shuttles and taxis offer reliable options for entry into the park.
