Transport from MCO to Cocoa Beach
Hi
We are coming to Orlando in April and will be staying in Cocoa Beach for a couple of days prior to going on a cruise from Port Canaveral
Any recommendations for transport please from the airport. We are flying in from the UK and don't want to rent a car to get us to the hotel
Thank you
Lee
Traveling from Orlando International Airport (MCO) to Cocoa Beach without a rental car is fairly straightforward, though options are somewhat limited since public transit isn’t very convenient for this route. Cocoa Beach is about 50–60 miles east of the airport, roughly a one-hour drive under normal traffic conditions.
Here are the main transportation options:
- Private shuttle services: Several companies operate airport-to-Cocoa Beach transfers. These can be booked in advance online and typically offer door-to-door service. Examples include Cocoa Beach Shuttle, Go Shuttle, and Florida Shuttle Services. Pricing varies, often around $70–$100 per person one way.
- Ride-sharing apps: Uber or Lyft are available at MCO. This option is flexible and convenient, but it can be expensive for a longer trip like this—expect fares around $90–$120 depending on demand and traffic.
- Private car service or limo: For a more comfortable or group-friendly option, you can pre-book a private car, SUV, or van. Companies like Blacklane or local limo services provide flat-rate trips, which may be cost-effective if traveling with several people and luggage.
- Bus services: Greyhound and some regional buses connect Orlando to Cocoa Beach, but schedules can be limited and travel time longer than by car. This is only recommended if you are flexible and comfortable navigating bus transfers with luggage.
Tips for a smooth transfer:
- Book your shuttle or private car in advance, especially in April, as this is spring break season and availability can be limited.
- Confirm pick-up locations and any luggage fees when booking rideshare or shuttle services.
- Check travel time with your cruise departure—Port Canaveral is very close to Cocoa Beach, but allow at least 1.5–2 hours from MCO to avoid stress if flights are delayed.
In summary, for convenience and minimal stress, a pre-booked shuttle or private car service is recommended. Ride-share apps are viable but could be pricey, while buses are the most economical but less flexible.
