China Southern airlines reliability
Hello
I wanted to book international flights with China Southern airlines, but when I visited their facebook page, I saw that they regularly cancel flights.
For example, they are cancelling more than 30 flights to European cities in November and December.
Also is it better to book on their website or on trip..com? Thank you
China Southern Airlines is one of China’s major carriers, offering extensive international and domestic flights. However, like many airlines, it has experienced cancellations and schedule adjustments, particularly in recent months due to operational challenges and fluctuating travel demand.
Reliability considerations:
- Flight cancellations can occur, especially on international routes to Europe and other regions. Some of these may be due to lower demand, regulatory adjustments, or operational constraints.
- Domestic flights in China tend to be more reliable, but long-haul international routes may have more frequent changes.
- When planning travel with China Southern, check the flight status regularly, and be prepared for potential adjustments.
Booking options – airline website vs third-party:
- China Southern website: Booking directly with the airline allows for easier management of your flights, official notifications of changes, and potentially better options for refunds or rebooking if a flight is canceled.
- Third-party platforms (e.g., Trip.com): These can offer promotions and sometimes package deals, but handling cancellations or changes may be slower, as you need to coordinate both with the platform and the airline.
- Direct booking is generally recommended for long-haul international flights, as it simplifies communication in case of disruptions.
Tips for booking:
- Check cancellation and refund policies carefully before booking, especially for routes with reported frequent changes.
- Sign up for flight alerts on the airline’s official site to get real-time notifications.
- Consider travel insurance that covers flight cancellations and schedule changes, particularly for international trips during busy seasons.
In summary, while China Southern Airlines operates a large network, international flights—particularly to Europe—may experience cancellations. Booking directly on their website is generally safer for managing changes, whereas third-party sites may offer convenience or discounts but less direct support in case of disruptions.
