Transport from airport to Hotel Circle
I will be visiting on my own in Feb and wondered if there are public transit options from the airport to Hotel Circle. Or would I be better off to take a cab?
Getting from San Diego International Airport (SAN) to Hotel Circle is straightforward, but the best option depends on your priorities—convenience, cost, or experience.
Public transit options:
- San Diego’s MTS bus system can get you to Hotel Circle, but it requires at least one transfer and can take 45–60 minutes depending on connections. From the airport, you can take the Route 992/992A shuttle to the Old Town Transit Center, then transfer to bus Route 7, 215, or 906 which go through Hotel Circle.
- The buses run approximately every 15–30 minutes, but schedules can vary in February, so check the MTS website or app for exact timing.
- Cost is very low—single rides are typically around $2.50–$3 for an adult, making it the cheapest option.
Alternative options for convenience:
- Taxi or rideshare (Uber/Lyft) from the airport is the most direct. Travel time is usually 10–15 minutes depending on traffic, and you are dropped right at your hotel.
- Estimated cost for Uber/Lyft or taxi is around $20–$35, which is reasonable if you value convenience and minimizing transfers.
- Hotel shuttles: Some Hotel Circle properties offer airport shuttles, either complimentary or for a small fee. Check with your specific hotel—they may be able to pick you up directly from the airport.
Recommendation:
If you are traveling light and don’t mind the transfer, public transit is economical and fairly easy. However, for a single traveler in February, a taxi or rideshare is simpler, faster, and more comfortable, especially if you have luggage. Hotel shuttles are a great option if your hotel offers them, as they combine convenience with a direct drop-off.
