March Santa Barbara trip

We're staying at Hotel California March 18-25.

What are the good restaurants to check out and places to check out some good music.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Santa Barbara in March is a wonderful time to visit, with mild weather and fewer crowds. Staying at Hotel California puts you right in downtown Santa Barbara, close to restaurants, bars, and live music venues. Here are some recommendations:

Restaurants to check out:

  • Los Agaves: Popular for upscale Mexican cuisine and great margaritas. Casual yet flavorful.
  • Brophy Bros. Clam Bar: Excellent seafood with a great harbor view. Perfect for lunch or a sunset dinner.
  • Jane: Trendy spot with New American cuisine and a focus on fresh, local ingredients.
  • Boathouse at Hendry’s Beach: Classic beachfront dining, seafood-focused, great for sunset views.
  • The Lark: Stylish and upscale in the Funk Zone, serving modern American dishes and a fun atmosphere for groups.

Places for live music:

  • SOhO Restaurant & Music Club: Longstanding venue in downtown Santa Barbara with a variety of live acts, from jazz to rock.
  • Santa Barbara Bowl: Outdoor amphitheater offering concerts—check their schedule for shows in March.
  • Finney’s Crafthouse & Kitchen: Local bar with live music in a more casual setting, often featuring local bands.
  • Arlington Theatre: Occasionally hosts live music, Broadway-style shows, or special events.
  • Funk Zone: The area itself has multiple tasting rooms and small bars that occasionally feature live music, making it fun to wander and sample.

In addition to restaurants and music, consider exploring the Funk Zone for wine tasting, walking along Stearns Wharf, and enjoying a bike ride along the waterfront. Downtown State Street also has plenty of cafes and shops to explore between meals and music outings.
