Your 6-night, 7-day Hong Kong itinerary with a toddler looks well-structured, balancing sightseeing, kid-friendly activities, and some iconic Hong Kong experiences. Here’s a detailed evaluation and suggestions:
Day 1 – Macau via bonded bus:
- Visiting Macau on arrival is possible, but consider that travel plus sightseeing might be tiring for a toddler. Make sure to keep it light and plan rest breaks.
- Focus on a few highlights: Senado Square, Ruins of St. Paul, and maybe the Macau Tower for a view. Avoid trying to cover too much on day one.
Day 2 – Back in Hong Kong, Symphony of Lights:
- Evening cruise at Victoria Harbour is perfect. Consider spending some daytime exploring nearby areas like Tsim Sha Tsui promenade, Avenue of Stars, or harborfront parks suitable for toddlers.
Day 3 – Disneyland:
- Disneyland is excellent for a toddler. Staying at Disneyland hotel is convenient for early entry and short commutes.
- Make sure to plan toddler-friendly rides and schedule nap breaks to avoid overtiredness.
Day 4 – Shopping: Ladies Market, Sneaker Street, Sky100:
- Shopping streets can be crowded. Consider combining this with a visit to a nearby park or indoor playground for toddler breaks.
- Sky100 is nice for panoramic views, but a quick visit may suffice with a toddler.
Day 5 – Big Buddha (Tian Tan Buddha) and Cable Car:
- Ngong Ping 360 cable car is exciting for kids. Try to go early to avoid crowds.
- Walking to the Buddha involves some steps; consider a stroller if your toddler can manage some walking.
Day 6 – Victoria Peak, Tram, and Times Square:
- Victoria Peak and Peak Tram are iconic; great for toddler photos and short walks.
- If time permits, Times Square is mostly for shopping and is optional.
- Consider an afternoon in a child-friendly park like Hong Kong Park or Kowloon Park as an alternative to crowded shopping areas.
Additional suggestions / must-sees for toddlers:
- Ocean Park is another family-friendly option with aquariums and animal exhibits, though it can be tiring for a short trip.
- Explore local parks or playgrounds near Cyberport for short breaks between sightseeing.
- Consider ferry rides to outlying islands like Lamma Island for a quieter day outdoors with family.
- Plan meals in toddler-friendly restaurants and have snacks ready as queues can be long at popular spots.
Overall, your itinerary covers major highlights, but balancing sightseeing with rest for the toddler is key. Slightly reducing shopping-heavy days or adding green spaces/play areas will make the trip smoother and more enjoyable for the child.
