Should we get a taxi or what is the best way to get there?

Traveling from Kowloon Station to Kew Green Hotel in Wanchai, Hong Kong, offers several options depending on your priorities for convenience, cost, and luggage handling.

1. Taxi:

  • Taxis are the most direct and convenient option, especially if you have luggage or a group. The ride from Kowloon Station to Wanchai typically takes 25–40 minutes depending on traffic.
  • Fares are metered, roughly HKD 200–250, plus tolls if taking tunnels. Taxis can accommodate up to four passengers, so for larger groups you may need two taxis.
  • You can find taxis outside Kowloon Station at the designated taxi stands. Red taxis serve urban areas like Wanchai.

2. Airport Express + MTR:

  • If you prefer public transport, take the Airport Express from Kowloon Station to Hong Kong Station (around 2 stops, 5–10 minutes).
  • From Hong Kong Station, transfer to the MTR Island Line at Central Station via the underground walkway to reach Admiralty Station, then walk or transfer to Wanchai Station on the Island Line (1 stop).
  • This option is more economical and avoids traffic, but requires handling luggage through stations and transfers.

3. Bus / Shuttle Services:

  • There are private shuttle services and hotel transfers available from Kowloon Station to Wanchai, which can be booked in advance. These are convenient for groups but may have limited schedules.
  • City buses are less convenient for tourists with luggage due to multiple stops and longer travel times.

Recommendation:

  • For convenience, speed, and minimal hassle with luggage, taking a taxi is generally the best choice for travelers arriving from Guangzhou by train.
  • If you want a cheaper option and don’t mind navigating MTR transfers with luggage, the Airport Express + MTR route is efficient and avoids traffic delays.

In summary, taxis provide the simplest and most direct route from Kowloon Station to Kew Green Hotel in Wanchai, while the combination of Airport Express and MTR offers a reliable, cost-effective alternative, especially during peak traffic hours.
