Hyatt Regency
Anyone with intel on the Hyatt Regency closing. We are staying June 14-21 and they are not taking reservations starting in July. I'm just a little worried they will close the pool early and maybe close the bars and restaurants early. If you know anything please let me know.
Good question — your concern is totally valid: the Hyatt Regency Sarasota is indeed closing permanently. Here’s the most up-to-date information and what to expect for your stay June 14–21:
- The hotel’s last day of operations is May 31, 2025, according to a layoff notice filed by management.
- It’s not just a renovation — the entire building is slated to be demolished in summer 2025.
- In its place, a mixed-use development is being built: two 18-story towers that will include a new Hyatt Centric Harborside hotel, plus luxury condos.
- Although the closure is coming, the hotel has stated they plan to continue “operating at full capacity” until the shutdown.
What this means for your stay (June 14–21):
- Your reservation will likely be honored, since it’s before the May 31 closing date — but definitely call the hotel directly and ask to speak with a manager to confirm that operations (pool, restaurants, services) will be fully available during your dates.
- Because the hotel is winding down operations, there’s some risk — amenities like the pool, bars, or restaurants *could* have limited hours or operational changes as they prepare for closure. While there’s no public confirmation of early pool or bar shutdowns, your concern is not unfounded.
- Ask for written confirmation when you call (via email) if they guarantee full service for your stay — this gives you more leverage in case things are scaled back.
Bottom Line: The Hyatt Regency Sarasota is closing permanently after May 31, 2025, to make way for a new development. While the hotel says they’ll operate fully until then, there’s some risk of reduced services in June, so it’s wise to confirm all amenities in writing before your trip.
