Best Area to Stay for Dodger Game
We're going to be in town for a Dodger game on April 14th (Monday).
Where would be the best area to stay for one night after the game? Looking for a safe area that's close and perhaps walkable to dining, shops, etc. Price isn't a huge concern, but we mainly are just looking for something decent that's not in a bad area. Thanks!
For attending a Dodger game on April 14th and staying just one night, the key is to choose a neighborhood that is both safe and convenient for post-game dining and shops. Dodger Stadium is located in the Elysian Park area, and while there are limited hotels immediately adjacent to the stadium, several nearby neighborhoods offer better options for safety, amenities, and walkability.
Recommended areas to consider:
- Echo Park / Elysian Heights: Just west of Dodger Stadium, Echo Park offers a walkable, trendy neighborhood with cafés, bars, and restaurants. It’s about a 10–15 minute drive or short ride from the stadium, and some areas have boutique hotels or Airbnbs. Streets near Sunset Boulevard and the park itself are lively and generally safe.
- Silver Lake: Slightly further west, Silver Lake is a hip neighborhood with plenty of restaurants, coffee shops, and small boutique hotels. It’s about a 15–20 minute drive to Dodger Stadium, and the area is known for safety and a vibrant evening scene, making it ideal for post-game dining and drinks.
- Downtown Los Angeles (DTLA) – Historic Core / Arts District: About 10 minutes from the stadium by car or ride-share, DTLA offers multiple hotel options ranging from mid-range to luxury. Staying downtown gives you easy access to post-game restaurants, bars, and evening entertainment. Safe areas for tourists include around the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Historic Core, and the Arts District.
- Los Feliz / Hollywood: About a 15-minute drive to the stadium, Los Feliz and Hollywood Hills provide charming streets, boutique hotels, and great dining options. While slightly further away, the neighborhoods are safe, walkable, and scenic.
Additional tips:
- Parking near Dodger Stadium can be crowded, so staying nearby in Echo Park or Silver Lake can help reduce travel stress.
- If you stay downtown, a ride-share or short drive is recommended since walking from DTLA to the stadium isn’t practical.
- For one night only, booking a hotel in Echo Park or Silver Lake provides the best combination of convenience and safety while allowing you to explore local dining after the game.
- Consider checking for boutique hotels or Airbnb options that provide secure parking and easy access to restaurants.
In summary, Echo Park and Silver Lake are the most convenient and safe options for a quick overnight stay after a Dodger game. DTLA or Los Feliz are also viable if you prefer a larger selection of hotels and more dining options, but will require a short drive to the stadium.
