timing Polynesian to MK

If we leave our room in the Polynesian around 8:15 am and take the monorail to the MK what time can we realistically expect to be inside the park?

Just not sure how early to book LL.

Thank you so much!

If you leave your room at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort around 8:15 am, you can realistically expect to be inside Magic Kingdom within 20–30 minutes, depending on monorail wait times and park entry lines.

Here’s a breakdown of the timing:

  • Walking from your room to the monorail station: ~5–10 minutes depending on which section of the resort you’re in.
  • Waiting for the monorail: ~5–10 minutes. Early mornings can be busy, but lines tend to move fairly quickly.
  • Monorail ride to Magic Kingdom: ~5–10 minutes. The Polynesian is one of the first stops, so the ride is short.
  • Security and park entry: ~5–10 minutes. Arriving right at or before official park opening may still mean a small line at security and ticket scanning.

Overall, leaving at 8:15 am should get you inside the park around 8:40–8:45 am if the park opens at 9:00 am. This timing gives you a solid window to hit popular attractions early.

Recommendations for Lightning Lane bookings:

  • Book your first LL reservation at or shortly after the park opening to take advantage of shorter wait times.
  • If you’re targeting high-demand rides like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train or Space Mountain, having a reservation within the first hour of park opening is ideal.
  • Use the Disney Genie+ app to plan and adjust ride times dynamically once you’re inside the park.

Tip: If you want an even earlier start, consider taking advantage of Early Theme Park Entry if you’re staying at a Disney Resort, which can allow entry 30 minutes before official opening. This would shift your timing slightly earlier and may allow you to ride popular attractions with almost no wait.
