Car Hire Denver International Airport

Hi Everyone. Can anyone recommend the best car hire in Denver International Airport. There are not many recent reviews on trip advisor on here. We originally booked with Fox Cars but after reading the reviews we have cancelled. We are looking for an SUV for 30 days for our 1st American road trip.

Thanks in advance

Renting a car at Denver International Airport (DIA) for a 30-day American road trip is a big decision, especially since you’re looking for an SUV. DIA has a consolidated car rental facility with many of the major rental companies, so you have several reliable options. Here’s a detailed overview:

Major car rental companies at DIA:

  • Enterprise: Known for excellent customer service and a wide range of vehicles. Their SUVs are generally well-maintained. Enterprise often provides flexible policies for long-term rentals.
  • Hertz: Offers a large selection of SUVs and tends to have competitive long-term rates. Hertz has a rewards program that can be helpful if you plan multiple rentals.
  • Avis/Budget: Both share counters at DIA and have a variety of SUVs. Avis is generally regarded for newer vehicles, while Budget may be slightly cheaper but with older models.
  • National: Popular for road trips, especially if you are a member of their Emerald Club, which allows you to choose your own car at pickup. They have good SUV options and quick pickup service.
  • Alamo: Also in the same facility, often preferred by international travelers for ease of pickup and drop-off. They have a wide SUV selection and straightforward policies.

Tips for a smooth rental experience:

  • Book in advance, especially for a 30-day rental, as availability of SUVs may be limited.
  • Check if the rate includes unlimited mileage—this is crucial for a long road trip.
  • Consider insurance options carefully; sometimes your personal auto insurance or credit card may cover rentals in the U.S., which can save money.
  • Read recent reviews for each company at DIA; service quality can fluctuate seasonally.
  • Pick a company with a shuttle from the airport terminal—it simplifies the process when arriving after a flight.

Additional advice:

  • For a 30-day rental, some travelers have found Enterprise or National to be the most reliable in terms of vehicle condition and long-term support.
  • If flexibility in vehicle choice is important, National’s Emerald Club or Enterprise’s Enterprise Plus programs allow you to pick your preferred SUV model.
  • Fuel policy: Full-to-full is recommended so you don’t get charged higher rates for fuel.
  • Consider checking aggregator sites like Kayak, Expedia, or AutoSlash to compare rates across all companies at DIA for long-term rentals.

Overall, for a long 30-day road trip in an SUV, Enterprise, National, and Hertz tend to have the best combination of vehicle quality, reliability, and customer service at Denver International Airport. Booking early and confirming all details will help ensure your trip starts smoothly.
