Squire Resort

Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone knows what is going on with the Squire Resort in the GC Village? A few months ago I made a reservation through Best Western to stay there mid-April. Today I learned that the hotel was taken over by IHG and is now a Holiday Inn, and IHG (corporate) doesn't have a record of my reservation. I got a local phone number for the hotel, but no one is picking up. Wondering if anyone is having the same issue? Trying to figure out if I need to rebook or find a new place to stay....

Thank you!!!

The situation you’re describing with the Squire Resort in Grand Canyon Village is unfortunately not uncommon when a hotel changes management or brand affiliation. The property was formerly a Best Western, and as of recent months, it has transitioned to IHG management and is now operating as a Holiday Inn. During such transitions, reservations made through the old system sometimes do not automatically transfer to the new brand's system, which is why your booking might not appear in IHG's records.

Here are some important points and steps to consider:

  • Contact IHG directly: While the local hotel number may be unresponsive, try calling IHG’s corporate reservations line. They can often locate legacy reservations if you have your confirmation number and booking details.
  • Check your original booking confirmation: Make sure to have your Best Western confirmation email or reservation number ready. Having dates, names, and confirmation numbers is essential when requesting a transfer or rebooking.
  • Consider rebooking: If you cannot reach anyone at the property and corporate is unable to confirm your stay, it may be safest to rebook either at the same hotel under Holiday Inn through IHG’s system or at an alternative property in Grand Canyon Village. Reservations for April are in high demand, so doing this sooner rather than later is recommended.

Other tips:

  • Monitor your email for updates from IHG; sometimes they send instructions to affected guests regarding legacy reservations.
  • Try calling during business hours for the hotel’s front desk; some property lines are only staffed during certain hours.
  • If you have elite status with IHG or Best Western, mention it when contacting corporate—they may give priority assistance in securing your reservation.

In summary, due to the brand change, your reservation may need to be manually confirmed or rebooked. Acting quickly and documenting your original confirmation details will help prevent losing your spot at the Grand Canyon Village during a busy travel period.
