Help on where to stay!

Hello! I am taking 2 teens on a last min trip to AZ for their spring break. I know - super busy time! We are prepared for that. BUT I can not decide first a hotel or an airbnb type thing. Are there safer areas to rent a home than others? We will have a car so I am not too worried about distance to things. Or, do you have a suggestion for a hotel that will offer a nice pool to lay out at and maybe float around in the pool? Nothing too loud and wild 😜 big foodies and shoppers too!! So any suggestions for that is welcomed! Budget is fairly open. Thank you!

For a spring break trip with teens in Scottsdale, you have a few good options depending on whether you prefer a hotel or an Airbnb-type rental. Scottsdale and surrounding areas are generally safe, but some neighborhoods are better suited for families than others.

Safety and neighborhood suggestions for rentals:

  • North Scottsdale: Known for upscale neighborhoods, gated communities, and family-friendly environments. Homes here often have pools, and it's generally quiet.
  • Old Town Scottsdale: Fun for shopping, dining, and walkability. Slightly busier, but many rental options are condos or townhouses with private pools. Be aware that it can be more crowded and lively, especially during spring break.
  • Paradise Valley: Very safe and upscale, close to Camelback Mountain hiking, golf, and great dining. Larger houses with pools are common, providing privacy and quiet.

If you prefer hotels, there are plenty that cater to families with pools and a relaxed atmosphere rather than a party vibe:

  • Fairmont Scottsdale Princess: Large resort with multiple pools, lazy river, and family-friendly amenities. Quiet areas available for relaxation. Great for foodies with several restaurants on-site.
  • Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort & Spa: Features a huge pool area with waterfalls and floating opportunities, plus golf, spa, and dining options.
  • The Scott Resort & Spa (Old Town Scottsdale): Modern and stylish with a pool suitable for teens, centrally located for shopping and dining in Old Town.
  • Andaz Scottsdale Resort & Bungalows: Boutique-style resort with private bungalows, several pools, and excellent dining options. Relaxed atmosphere and a little quieter than some of the larger resorts.

Additional tips for a smooth stay:

  • Book as early as possible—spring break is very busy.
  • Look for accommodations that provide pool floats or allow you to bring your own for added fun.
  • Renting a car gives flexibility to explore both Scottsdale and nearby Phoenix attractions, such as Desert Botanical Garden, hiking Camelback Mountain, or visiting museums.
  • Check if the Airbnb or rental provides security measures such as gated entry or on-site management for added peace of mind.

Overall, if your teens want some shopping and dining action, Old Town or central Scottsdale is ideal, while North Scottsdale and Paradise Valley provide quiet, safe, and family-oriented environments. For hotels, the large resorts mentioned above give the best mix of pools, comfort, and amenities suitable for families with teens.
