First time visit to Sedona, we'll be staying in Scottsdale from Wed to Tues. Would like to do a ride to Sedona to do some exploring and sight seeing. Trying to decide if it's better to go on a Sat or Sun or a weekday?
Also, looking for wine tour suggestions/recommendations.
Thank you in advance!
For a first-time visit to Sedona from Scottsdale, choosing the least crowded day is key to a more relaxed experience. In general, weekdays are significantly less busy than weekends. Saturday is usually the busiest day, especially for popular hiking spots and scenic drives, while Sunday is slightly less crowded but still has a notable influx of visitors. Wednesday through Friday tend to offer the calmest experience, with minimal traffic and more available parking at trailheads and viewpoints.
If your schedule allows, aim to visit Sedona on a weekday, preferably Thursday or Friday, to avoid the largest crowds. This will give you a more enjoyable experience for sightseeing, photo stops, and short hikes.
For a wine tour in Sedona, there are several well-regarded options that cater to both casual tasters and those wanting a deeper experience of the Verde Valley wine region:
Visiting wineries mid-week also reduces wait times and allows more interaction with staff and winemakers. If you prefer a more private or personalized experience, some wineries accept appointments for tastings.
Overall, for a smooth, low-crowd day, plan your Sedona drive and wine tour for a Thursday or Friday. Leave early in the morning to maximize daylight for scenic viewpoints and enjoy a relaxed pace through wineries and charming Sedona streets.
