Handicapp access pass parking inside the park

My family of 4 and I will be traveling to Yosemite June 8-12. i have an access pass. My question is Will we find parking near some of the sights that is reserved for handicapp parking? OR is this a busy time of year and parking may be hard to find.

Will we have any special privilege in reserving an entrance time to the park?

Visiting Yosemite in early June is a popular time, so it can get busy, especially on weekends and around the main attractions like Yosemite Valley, Glacier Point, and Tunnel View. However, having a handicapped access pass will give you some advantages when it comes to parking and access.

Regarding parking:

  • Most major trailheads, viewpoints, and visitor centers in Yosemite Valley have designated handicapped-accessible parking spaces. These spots are typically located closest to the main entrances of the sites.
  • Even on busy days, these handicapped spaces are prioritized for vehicles displaying a valid access pass. You should generally be able to find a spot, although at peak times you may need to arrive early in the morning to secure the closest spaces.
  • Some areas outside the main valley, such as Glacier Point or Mariposa Grove, also have handicapped parking, but these can fill up quickly if large tours or groups are present. Arriving early is recommended.

Regarding entrance reservations:

  • As of recent years, Yosemite has used a timed-entry reservation system during peak seasons (spring through fall). Certain access passes, including some National Park access passes, may grant entry without a separate reservation, but this depends on the type of pass.
  • If you have a standard America the Beautiful pass with a handicapped designation, you may still need a timed-entry reservation for certain peak periods. It's best to check the official Yosemite National Park website prior to your visit to confirm whether your pass exempts you from reservations.
  • Even if you have a reservation or access pass, arriving early is advantageous to secure parking close to popular sights.

Additional tips:

  • Use the free Yosemite shuttle system in the valley if you want to avoid searching for parking. Shuttles are handicap-accessible.
  • Consider planning your visits to major sites early in the day or later in the afternoon to avoid peak congestion.
  • Have a backup plan for parking — some viewpoints and trailheads have multiple lots or accessible drop-off areas.

Overall, your handicapped access pass will give you priority for parking near main sights and may simplify entry, but early arrival is still recommended to ensure a stress-free experience during this busy time of year.
