China Eastern Airlines check in at airport ok

Hi, I have 2 internal China Eastern Airlines flights booked through Trip.com

Trip.com won't do the check in though their App but instead direct you to China Eastern Airlines website saying they will pre fill details if they can

I'd rather not attempt to book in online on mobile website, especially as I have an apostrophe which may cause problems. Is it ok to just turn up at airport for this airline and do check in there?

Thanks

Yes, it is perfectly fine to check in at the airport for your China Eastern Airlines flights, especially if online check-in is inconvenient due to special characters in your name or other technical issues. China Eastern Airlines has staffed check-in counters at all major airports in China, and airport check-in is standard practice for domestic flights.

Here are some important points to keep in mind:

  • Arrive at the airport at least 2 hours before your domestic flight. This allows enough time for check-in, baggage drop, and security screening.
  • Bring your passport and your Trip.com booking reference. The airline staff can look up your reservation using either your passport or the booking reference number.
  • If you have any special characters (like apostrophes) in your name, the airline staff can ensure your boarding pass matches your ID, avoiding potential issues during boarding.
  • Even if you cannot check in online, arriving early ensures you can select your preferred seat and handle any other requests, such as baggage tags or boarding assistance.

Additional tips:

  • Check the airport terminal for China Eastern Airlines; some airports have multiple terminals, and the check-in counter location may vary.
  • Have a printed copy of your Trip.com itinerary or a digital copy accessible on your phone for reference.
  • If you have any luggage, make sure you are aware of the airline’s baggage allowance and restrictions for domestic flights.

In summary, you do not need to worry if online check-in is not working. China Eastern Airlines airport counters are fully equipped to handle your check-in efficiently, and arriving 2 hours early is generally sufficient for a smooth experience.
