Help with plans

We have just part of a day to spend in LA with our 13 yr old granddaughter. We are arriving from the East coast around 11. Is this plan manageable and please help me put it in the correct order. We are spending the night in Anaheim. I thought from LAX, we would stop in Venice Beach for lunch and a quick stroll on the boardwalk but this is not a top priority. We are planning a stop 2 days later in Santa Monica as we continue up the coast to SF. ( trip is scheduled late July). Sights in LA that are a must are Rodeo Drive, the Walk of Fame and the Hollywood sign. I think our granddaughter would also enjoy The Grove and Wlshire Blvd. We will be there on a Wednesday. I also would like to have dinner at Candlers Deli ( if possible)

Given that you’re arriving at LAX around 11 AM and need to spend part of the day in Los Angeles with your 13-year-old granddaughter before heading to Anaheim for the night, the day can be manageable if you prioritize efficiently. Since Venice Beach is not a top priority and you plan to stop in Santa Monica later in the trip, it makes sense to focus on Hollywood, Beverly Hills, and nearby attractions.

Suggested itinerary order:

  • Pick up rental car or arrange transport from LAX around 11:30–12:00 PM.
  • Drive to Hollywood area first. Plan to visit the Walk of Fame and TCL Chinese Theatre for a quick stroll and photo opportunities (allow 1–1.5 hours).
  • Drive up to the Hollywood Sign viewpoint (Griffith Observatory or Lake Hollywood Park) for photos. Plan for 30–45 minutes depending on traffic.
  • Head to Beverly Hills next. Walk along Rodeo Drive and enjoy the upscale shops, even if just window-shopping (about 45 minutes to 1 hour).
  • If time allows, visit The Grove and Wilshire Blvd area. This is also convenient for grabbing snacks or coffee and enjoying a lively outdoor shopping atmosphere (allow 1–1.5 hours).
  • Drive to Candler’s Deli for dinner in the late afternoon or early evening. Depending on traffic, you may want to reserve or check peak times to avoid long waits.
  • After dinner, drive to Anaheim for your overnight stay. Allocate at least 1–1.5 hours for the drive depending on traffic.

Additional tips:

  • Traffic in LA can be unpredictable, especially on weekdays in July, so allow buffer time between locations.
  • Start with Hollywood first as it is near your arrival area from LAX and reduces backtracking.
  • If your granddaughter enjoys photo ops and casual sightseeing, prioritize Walk of Fame, Hollywood Sign viewpoint, and The Grove. Venice Beach can be skipped for this trip since you plan to visit Santa Monica later.
  • Use apps like Google Maps or Waze to monitor traffic and adjust your timing accordingly.

This plan keeps travel distances efficient and maximizes sightseeing without feeling too rushed for your short LA stop.
