Looking for advice. Planning to travel next March.
We will have 10 days and want to split it between Maui and Kauai.
Would you plan to split it 5 days each island or 6 and 4 etc ?? Appreciate your input
For a 10-day trip split between Maui and Kauai, the ideal division really depends on your interests, pace, and whether you prefer more adventure, beach time, or relaxation. Both islands offer very different experiences.
Option 1: 5 days each island
This is a balanced approach and works well if you want to get a good taste of both islands without feeling rushed. It allows time to explore the main highlights on each island, relax on the beaches, and enjoy some local activities.
Option 2: 6 days Maui / 4 days Kauai
Choose this if Maui is your primary focus for activities like the Road to Hana, snorkeling adventures, and Haleakalā. It gives you extra flexibility in Maui without feeling rushed. Kauai can then be a more relaxed, scenic finish with shorter hikes and beach time.
Option 3: 4 days Maui / 6 days Kauai
If your priority is scenic beauty, hiking, and a quieter, more nature-focused experience, spend more time in Kauai. Maui can still provide beaches and towns to explore, but you’ll have extra time in Kauai to savor Waimea Canyon, Na Pali Coast, and the north shore without rushing.
Additional considerations:
Overall, a 5/5 split is safe for first-time visitors to both islands. Adjust slightly (6/4 or 4/6) depending on whether you want more activity on Maui or more scenic relaxation on Kauai.
