Hotel Recommendations

We're attending the Edgewood golf tournament in July. We have a choice of staying at Hilton Village, Bally's and Harrah's. Which hotel is more modern and best to stay at? A friend says Harrah's but it's more expensive.

For attending the Edgewood golf tournament in Lake Tahoe in July, choosing the right hotel depends on your priorities: modern amenities, price, and proximity to the tournament and other attractions.

Here’s a breakdown of the three options you mentioned:

  • Harrah's Lake Tahoe: Generally considered the most modern and recently renovated of the three. Rooms tend to be updated with contemporary décor, and the hotel offers a wider range of amenities including multiple dining options, a large casino, and entertainment. It is slightly more expensive but often worth it for comfort and a more polished experience.
  • Bally's Lake Tahoe: Rooms are decent but tend to be older and less updated compared to Harrah's. Bally's shares some facilities with Harrah's since they are connected, but the overall feel is slightly dated. This can be a good budget-friendly option if price is a concern.
  • Hilton Lake Tahoe Village: While not a casino hotel, Hilton Village offers a resort-style experience with condo-like rooms and kitchenettes, which is convenient if you prefer self-catering. The rooms are fairly modern, but the property doesn’t have the same entertainment options as Harrah's or Bally's. It is closer to outdoor activities and has a quieter, more relaxed atmosphere.

Recommendation: If your main priorities are modern rooms, a polished hotel experience, and access to amenities like restaurants and entertainment, Harrah's is the best choice. If you want to save a bit and don’t mind older décor, Bally's is fine. For a quieter stay with condo-style accommodations and possibly a kitchen, Hilton Village is a good alternative.

Since you’re attending a golf tournament, proximity to Edgewood can also factor in. All three hotels are within a short drive to the course, so travel time won’t differ significantly.
