Mini surfboard souvenir

Does anyone know where we could get a mini wooden surfboard? Maybe about 12” long? Our son loves the idea of surfing and we want to bring him back a tiny board that would fit in our suitcase. Staying in Ka’anapali. Thanks!

Mini wooden surfboards are a popular souvenir in Maui, and finding one around 12 inches is very doable, especially in the Ka’anapali area. These make great gifts and are easy to pack in a suitcase.

Where to look in Ka’anapali:

  • Whalers Village Shops: This shopping area has several stores selling Hawaiian souvenirs, including mini surfboards, ukuleles, and locally made crafts. Look for gift shops like Island Surf & Sport or Maui Gift Shops.
  • Local surf shops: Shops such as Maui Surfboards or Goofy Foot Surf Shop sometimes carry small decorative surfboards for display, usually 12-18 inches long.
  • ABC Stores: While mainly a convenience store chain, some larger locations in Ka’anapali may have small souvenir surfboards or keychain-sized versions if you don’t find the perfect 12” wooden board elsewhere.

Alternative options nearby:

  • Lahaina Town: Just a short drive from Ka’anapali, Lahaina has several boutiques and art galleries where local artisans sell hand-crafted mini surfboards. These often feature custom designs and authentic wood finishes.
  • Farmers Markets & Craft Fairs: Check out any local markets during your stay. Vendors often sell handmade wooden mini surfboards that are lightweight and perfect for souvenirs.

Tips:

  • Ask if the shop can safely wrap the board for travel; some come with protective packaging.
  • If you don’t find one in Ka’anapali, consider ordering online from Maui-based shops for pickup or shipping to your accommodation.
  • Check the size and weight before purchasing to ensure it fits comfortably in your luggage.

Overall, Whalers Village and Lahaina town are your best bets for finding a quality mini wooden surfboard souvenir near Ka’anapali.
