One night, hotel, and restaurant suggestions, please
Hi TA forum people.
My husband and I are looking for the best place to relax in comfort over night between legs of a long trip back from Asia. Maybe in the $300/night range. We definitely want an airport/hotel shuttle. Two people.
We arrive from Shanghai to LAX @ 1:55PM on a Thursday in October, and depart for home at 12:45 PM the next day. I don’t think we’ll have time to do sightseeing, but we’d like to have dinner at a good restaurant. We’d welcome breakfast suggestions too.
I’m also posting in the state forum and in the San Francisco forum for a stay on our outboundtrip. Our SFO STOPwill be similar, so if you have suggestions for both places, I think it’s OK to let me know here too.
You all have been so helpful in the past, I’m hoping that you’ll have good suggestions for me now too.
Thanks so much,
Teri
For a short overnight stay near LAX, comfort, convenience, and a good restaurant experience are key. Since you’re arriving from an international flight and want minimal stress, staying near the airport is ideal. Here are some recommendations:
- Hyatt Regency Los Angeles International Airport – This is a full-service hotel right at LAX with airport shuttle service. Rooms are spacious and comfortable, and there’s an on-site restaurant for dinner and breakfast, making it very convenient after a long flight.
- Hilton Los Angeles Airport – Another popular choice for overnight stays with a reliable airport shuttle. The hotel features a nice restaurant and bar, as well as comfortable rooms in your budget range.
- Courtyard by Marriott LAX – Slightly smaller and more modern, with shuttle service. There’s an on-site bistro serving breakfast and dinner, suitable for a relaxed evening meal.
- Residence Inn by Marriott LAX – If you prefer a suite-style room, this hotel has kitchenettes, making it very comfortable. They also provide shuttle service and a hot breakfast.
For dinner near your hotel, if you want to venture a bit further than the hotel restaurant:
- Truxton’s American Bistro – Casual, reliable, about 10 minutes from LAX, good for classic American dishes with some interesting options.
- The Proud Bird – Aviation-themed dining, also close to the airport, with multiple restaurants under one roof.
- Aliki’s Greek Taverna – For something lighter and more Mediterranean, around 10–15 minutes away by taxi or Uber.
For breakfast the next morning, most of the hotels offer a buffet or à la carte breakfast. If you want to step out:
- In-N-Out Burger – A quick, classic California experience if you want something fast.
- Westchester Bakery & Cafe – Small, local spot for coffee, pastries, and breakfast sandwiches.
Tips:
- Ask your hotel ahead of time about the shuttle schedule to and from LAX, especially for early morning departures.
- If you want a quieter night, request a room on the side away from the airport runways.
- Make dinner reservations if you plan to eat at the hotel’s restaurant or a nearby popular spot to avoid waits.
This setup should provide comfort, easy airport access, and a relaxing meal after your long flight, without the stress of traffic or long travel times.
