Alcatraz and Walt Disney Museum

I want to stay close to these two tourist spots. I will have a car so I can drive in between and I’m looking for a hotel, boutique or other, where it won’t cost a lot to park the car and I can get a decent deal. Would love to have at least a four out of five star hotel if That’s not unreasonable. Any ideas?

For staying near both Alcatraz (Pier 33/Fisherman’s Wharf area) and the Walt Disney Family Museum (in the Presidio), you’ll want a hotel that balances location, parking availability, and quality. San Francisco hotels can be expensive and parking is often costly, so considering boutique or chain hotels with reasonable parking is key.

General tips:

  • Fisherman’s Wharf is convenient for Alcatraz tours and has many hotels with parking, but nightly rates and parking fees can be high.
  • The Presidio and nearby Marina District are closer to the Walt Disney Museum, quieter, and charming, though fewer hotel options exist.
  • Having a car in San Francisco is convenient for this itinerary, but expect some traffic and steep streets; look for hotels that offer discounted or included parking.

Recommended hotel options:

  • Argonaut Hotel – A boutique 4-star hotel at Fisherman’s Wharf. Offers nautical-themed rooms and some on-site parking (often discounted if booked in advance). Very close to Alcatraz tours, a 10–15 minute drive to the Presidio/Walt Disney Museum.
  • Hotel Zephyr – Another Wharf option with a fun, modern design, rooftop games, and valet parking. Rates are reasonable compared to some Wharf hotels.
  • Casa Munras Hotel or Marina District B&Bs – For boutique charm near the Presidio, parking may be included or easier to find on the street. A short drive to Fisherman’s Wharf (~10–15 min).
  • Hotel Griffon – Waterfront boutique hotel near the Wharf, often with parking packages. Great balance of boutique style and location for Alcatraz.

Parking tips:

  • Reserve hotel parking in advance, as spaces are limited.
  • Check for hotels offering packages that include parking and Alcatraz tickets to save money.
  • If parking at the hotel is expensive, consider public garages near Fisherman’s Wharf or the Presidio for shorter stays, as some offer daily maximums.

In summary, for your itinerary, staying around Fisherman’s Wharf provides convenient access to Alcatraz with boutique hotel charm, while being just a short drive to the Walt Disney Family Museum. Aim for hotels like the Argonaut or Hotel Zephyr for a mix of comfort, style, and practical parking.
