We made our 11th trip to Alaska mid September. We started in Ketchikan and ended up in Seattle. Most of the time was spent in the Great Bear Rainforest in BC.
This report features: RAIN.
Taking a ferry from the airport was a first and I enjoyed it.
Fortunately, our one whole day was mostly sunny and cool and perfect for walking. We explored on foot and had a great meal at the New York Cafe. Wonderful halibut! We stayed at Cape Fox Lodge, It was comfortable and clean. The restaurant had good food. Service was pleasant.
We were in Ketchikan the day the skies opened, and left, according to their fire department, 7.66 inches of rain. I have never seen that much rain anywhere. I have never seen rain swallow the world.
One day in Ketchikan was plenty, even with good weather. I can't imagine what it is like when several large ships are in port.
The moral of the story is take good rain gear. I had it, used it, and will use it again!
