Itinerary questions

Hi All

Can ask if last week of March will be a good time to visit xiamen and mount wuyi ? Will it be rainy and foggy ? How do I arrange transport from xiamen city to wuyi Mountain? Intend to stay 1 night...Should I go mount wuyi straight from xiamen airport ?

The last week of March can be a pleasant time to visit Xiamen and Mount Wuyi, but you should be prepared for variable weather. Spring in Fujian province generally brings mild temperatures, but it can also be the start of the rainy season in some areas. Expect occasional rain showers and some fog, particularly in mountainous areas like Mount Wuyi, which can slightly reduce visibility but also adds a misty, scenic atmosphere.

Regarding transport from Xiamen to Mount Wuyi:

  • The distance between Xiamen city and Mount Wuyi (Wuyishan) is approximately 250–270 km, which takes about 3.5 to 4.5 hours by car or high-speed train.
  • You can take a high-speed train from Xiamen North Railway Station or Xiamen Railway Station to Wuyishan Railway Station. Trains are frequent and comfortable, but booking in advance is recommended, especially during weekends or holidays.
  • Alternatively, private car hire or taxi is possible if you prefer direct transport, though more expensive.
  • Some tour operators in Xiamen offer one-night packages including transport, hotel, and guided tours of Mount Wuyi, which may simplify logistics for a short visit.

Regarding the itinerary:

  • It is generally not necessary to go directly from Xiamen Airport to Mount Wuyi unless your schedule is very tight. Most visitors spend at least a day in Xiamen first to explore the city, Gulangyu Island, and local cuisine before heading to Mount Wuyi.
  • If you choose to go straight from the airport, private transfer or pre-arranged tour would be the most convenient. Public transport options may require multiple transfers and are less flexible with luggage.
  • Plan for one night at Mount Wuyi, which is typically sufficient to explore the main scenic areas, tea plantations, and take a short bamboo raft ride along the Nine-Bend River.

Summary: Late March is generally suitable for visiting Xiamen and Mount Wuyi, though light rain and fog are possible. High-speed train or private transfer are the most convenient options for travel between Xiamen and Mount Wuyi, and a one-night stay at Wuyishan is feasible for a brief exploration. Planning a short stay in Xiamen before heading to Wuyi may make the itinerary more relaxed.
