Hong Kong in March vs November?

Hi,

My dilemma is: to visit Hong Kong in March or in November? Weather-wise, of course.

I am limited by my job and also financially, of course. March is better for me, but I think the weather is not so good then.

I expect March to be more wet, damp, with more clouds and more rain and would probably need long sleeves due to cold/cool air.

November might have warmer weather, dryer and more sun, as I looked it up.

Do you think March is also a good time to visit or I'm not getting the weather right?

Visiting Hong Kong in either March or November can both be enjoyable, but the weather patterns and overall experience differ.

March in Hong Kong:

  • Temperature: Average daily temperatures range from 16°C to 21°C (61°F–70°F). It can feel cool, especially in the mornings and evenings, so long sleeves or a light jacket are recommended.
  • Rain: March is generally part of the tail end of the wetter season. Expect occasional rain showers and higher humidity, which can make the air feel damp.
  • Sunlight: Cloud cover is more common than in November, so outdoor sightseeing may sometimes be overcast.
  • Crowds: March tends to be less crowded than the autumn months, which can make it more pleasant for visiting popular attractions.

November in Hong Kong:

  • Temperature: Average daily temperatures are 19°C–25°C (66°F–77°F), usually warmer and more comfortable for outdoor activities.
  • Rain: November is drier with low humidity, making it ideal for walking, hiking, and outdoor sightseeing.
  • Sunlight: Clear skies are more frequent, providing bright and sunny days perfect for photography and harbor views.
  • Crowds: November coincides with peak tourist season due to the pleasant weather, so popular spots may be busier.

Summary and recommendations:

  • If you prioritize warmer, sunnier, and drier weather for sightseeing, November is the better choice.
  • If your work and budget make March more feasible, it is still a reasonable time to visit; just be prepared for some cooler and damp days, and carry an umbrella and layers.
  • March can also be quieter in terms of crowds, which might be a plus for exploring popular areas like Victoria Harbour, The Peak, and markets.

Overall, March is perfectly visitable, though November offers more consistently pleasant weather for outdoor activities. It really depends on whether avoiding peak tourist season or experiencing ideal weather is more important to you.
