Gluten Free Lunch Hong Kong
Hello, I have one full day in Hong Kong in November and I am looking for recommendations for a gluten-free lunch. I’ve located two restaurants on the Internet and wondering if any of my TripAdvisor friends can help me choose. The first is Chilli Fagara. The second is Madame Fu. Of course, if you have other recommendations, please let me know.
Thank you!!
Hong Kong offers a variety of dining options for gluten-free meals, and both Chilli Fagara and Madame Fu are worth considering depending on your preferences.
Chilli Fagara:
- Known for its Sichuan cuisine with bold flavors and spicy dishes.
- Many dishes can be adapted to be gluten-free, but it’s important to confirm with the staff as some sauces may contain soy or wheat.
- Casual to semi-formal atmosphere, good for experiencing authentic Chinese flavors.
Madame Fu:
- Offers modern Chinese cuisine with an emphasis on fresh ingredients and lighter sauces.
- More attentive to dietary restrictions, and gluten-free options are usually available upon request.
- Stylish interior, good for a quieter, more relaxed lunch experience.
Other gluten-free options in Hong Kong:
- Grassroots Pantry – Vegetarian and vegan-focused, fully accommodating gluten-free diets.
- Mana! Fast Slow Food – Offers gluten-free wraps, salads, and bowls; casual and quick.
- The Cupping Room – Cafe-style lunch with gluten-free sandwiches and salads.
Tips:
- Always inform the restaurant about gluten intolerance when ordering.
- Avoid dishes with soy sauce unless it’s labeled gluten-free.
- Call ahead if possible to ensure the restaurant can accommodate your dietary needs on the day of your visit.
Overall, if you prefer a bold and authentic Chinese lunch and are comfortable clarifying ingredients, Chilli Fagara is a good choice. For a more controlled gluten-free experience in a stylish setting, Madame Fu is recommended. Both are central and accessible for a single-day visit.
