Hole in the wall DIM SUM.

Stayed on last visit at 181 connaught road apartments. Found a great Dim Sum take out just a walk away. Cannot locate on this visit. Anyone help? Was really great. Thanks.

If you’re looking for the “hole in the wall” dim sum near 181 Connaught Road, it can sometimes be tricky to locate again, especially in busy areas of Hong Kong where small eateries can close or move frequently.

Here are a few ways to find it or similar options:

  • Check recent reviews on Google Maps or OpenRice (Hong Kong’s local restaurant review platform) by searching for “dim sum” around 181 Connaught Road West. Even small takeout places usually have at least a few online reviews.
  • Ask local residents or staff at nearby apartment buildings—they often know small hidden gems that are not widely advertised.
  • Walk along Connaught Road West and the adjacent streets; many hole-in-the-wall dim sum places do not have prominent signage and may be easy to miss.
  • Use food delivery apps like Foodpanda or Deliveroo in Hong Kong, which often list small takeaway dim sum outlets that might not show up on Google Maps.

If the exact place has closed or relocated, there are several similar small, family-run dim sum takeaway spots in the Sheung Wan and Western district area. These typically offer classic items like siu mai, har gow, char siu buns, and cheung fun at affordable prices.

Tips to ensure you find a good place:

  • Look for places with a steady local crowd—usually a good sign of quality.
  • Check the freshness of items displayed in steamers.
  • Don’t hesitate to ask for recommendations from nearby shops or street vendors; Hong Kong locals are often happy to point you to a good dim sum spot.

Even if you can’t locate the exact restaurant, this area is rich in authentic dim sum options that are worth exploring on foot.
