Hi, is there a recommended website for tourists to HK? I saw mentioned in another tread www. discoverhongkong.com. Are there any further recommendations? Looking for some great information but not to be overwhelmed with too much on multiple websites. Also planning to get a Lonely Planet or similar. I'd love for there to be something like Japan Guide, which I'm very familiar with for Japan and love. Thanks :)
For a first-time visitor to Hong Kong, it’s great to have one or two reliable sources rather than overwhelming yourself with too many websites. The official tourism website is a solid starting point.
If you like the style of Japan Guide, Discover Hong Kong combined with Lonely Planet comes closest, offering practical travel advice, itineraries, and maps. For transportation planning, you can also check the MTR official website for subway info and route planning.
Overall, sticking to 2–3 sources is usually sufficient: Discover Hong Kong for official recommendations, Lonely Planet for more detailed travel narratives, and optionally Time Out or OpenRice for real-time tips on food and events.
