List of International travel Hong Kong PAR
I have obtained a valid PAR for my Hongkong travel from India. I have accidentally missed out mentioning all the countries i traveled in last 3 years. Will this be a problem. I travel in November 1st week. I am unable to apply a new PAR as it says I have a valid PAR
If you have obtained a valid Pre-arrival Registration (PAR) for Hong Kong but accidentally omitted some countries you visited in the past three years, it’s important to understand how Hong Kong Immigration handles such cases.
1. Accuracy of travel history:
- The PAR application asks for your travel history for security and risk assessment purposes. Omitting countries could technically be considered providing incomplete information.
- Minor omissions are often not an issue if there is no intent to mislead, especially for short stays, but it is always safer to correct the information if possible.
2. Options if PAR is already approved:
- Hong Kong does not allow re-submission of a new PAR while an existing one is valid.
- You can bring a note explaining the omission during your travel and declare your correct travel history at immigration if asked.
- Some travelers contact the Hong Kong Immigration Department by email or phone to update their travel history, but there is no guarantee they will modify an already approved PAR.
3. Practical advice for your trip:
- Carry supporting documents, such as old passports or visas, to show your complete travel history if questioned.
- Be honest and transparent if asked by immigration officers. Most short-term travelers are allowed entry even with minor discrepancies in the PAR, as long as there is no intent to mislead.
- If possible, contact the Hong Kong Immigration Department as soon as possible to explain the omission and seek guidance before your November trip.
In summary, while the omission could potentially be a problem, in practice for most short visits it is unlikely to cause denial of entry. Honesty and documentation are key, and contacting Hong Kong Immigration for clarification is the safest approach.
