Hong kong 1/2 or full day tour in May

Hi-I was wondering ifif anyone can recommand a good full or half day tour of Hong Know to get myself started. I want to hit the usual spots in the city (tram, areas of interest, escalators) but I don't want a big tour. I'm assuming no more than 15-30 max. I noticed that there are some on Viator but I am hesiate to try them unless someone recomends it. They seem to all include a Dim Sum tasting which would be great unless it is a real tourist place.

Thank you in advance

For a one-day or half-day tour of Hong Kong with a small group, there are several ways to get an authentic experience without feeling like part of a large tourist crowd. Since you want to focus on iconic areas, trams, escalators, and local food experiences like dim sum, small private or semi-private tours are ideal.

Here are some good options and tips:

  • Private or Small Group City Tour: Many local guides offer half-day or full-day tours for groups of 2–10 people. They can tailor the itinerary to include the Mid-Levels Escalator, Central and Sheung Wan neighborhoods, Star Ferry ride, and Victoria Peak.
  • Food-focused Walking Tour: Some tours emphasize local cuisine. For dim sum, look for tours that avoid heavily touristy chains and instead visit local teahouses popular with residents.
  • Tram Experience: A short tram ride through Hong Kong Island gives you a local feel. You can combine it with a guided walk through Soho and Central for a more immersive experience.

Additional tips to maximize your tour experience:

  • Check reviews on platforms like TripAdvisor or local forums to ensure the dim sum included is authentic and not overly commercialized.
  • If you prefer flexibility, consider booking a guide for a half-day and then exploring at your own pace for the other half.
  • Start early in the day if doing a full-day tour to avoid crowds at Victoria Peak and other key sights.
  • Wear comfortable shoes and be prepared for a mix of walking, tram rides, and escalator travel.

With a small group of 15–30 people, you will have a more personal experience while still enjoying the highlights of Hong Kong, including culture, local streets, and cuisine.
