Aso Volcano Crater in Kumamoto

This is a must-visit travel destination in Kumamoto. The Aso Volcano Crater, located in a caldera formed by a massive eruption 90,000 years ago, is not a place you can visit on a whim. Daily sulfur gas levels are monitored, and access is restricted if the concentration exceeds a certain threshold. Even if there's a chance you might not be able to enter, it's worth attempting a visit when you're in Kumamoto's Aso area. The stunning natural scenery and the dynamic activity of the active volcano are truly awe-inspiring.
