Walking into the Wansong Old Man Pagoda Courtyard on Xisi South Street, this bookstore "hidden in an ancient pagoda" made me travel back to the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties in an instant! The 800-year-old pagoda guards the Beijing-style cultural heritage
📚Ancient Books Treasure Hunt Critical Hit
I found the authentic hand-painted "Complete Map of the Capital" from the Guangxu period! The calendar posters of the Republic of China and the albums of hutong photos from the 1980s hide surprises. The boss will recommend out-of-print books based on your temperament. I strongly recommend "Yanjing Sui Shi Ji" paired with the homemade jasmine powder. The fragrance of tea mixed with the musty aroma of thread-bound books is super intoxicating!
🗿 Tower Courtyard Mystery Guide
• A brick with the word "Beijing" was found at the foot of a Yuan Dynasty brick tower
• The west wing hides an old door pillar exhibition, and touching the tiger head can bring good luck
• Don’t miss the grape trellis in the backyard, where light and shadow shine through the century-old locust tree, creating a beautiful ink painting
📌History of Survival
✔️The best time to take photos is at 3pm when the light and shadows are slanted on the window lattices
✔️Turn right at the restaurant "Xingyuan" and have a bowl of noodles with soybean paste. The combination of carbohydrates and the fragrance of books is a perfect match.
📍Zhengyang Bookstore: No. 43, Xisi South Street, Xicheng District
