Shangxiajiu Pedestrian Street is a lively showcase of Guangzhou’s old-meets-new charm. Stretching over 1,240 meters in the Liwan District, it’s lined with traditional Lingnan-style buildings housing bargain boutiques, shoe shops, and beloved snack stalls. I wandered past vintage arcades and sampled ginger milk pudding and wonton noodles from local favorites like Nanxin Dessert Store and Baohua Noodle Restaurant. The atmosphere buzzed with locals, tourists, and quirky trishaws weaving through the crowd. Though some shops felt dated, the street’s nostalgic vibe and authentic Cantonese flavors made it a memorable stroll. For culture, shopping, and street eats, Shangxiajiu delivers.
