Ancient City Wall with Lingnan Charm

The ancient city wall on Lianhua Mountain in Panyu, Guangzhou, really looks just like the Great Wall.
This is not the Great Wall in Beijing⛰️, this is the "Guangdong Great Wall" in Panyu, Guangzhou!

The ancient city wall on Lianhua Mountain in Panyu, Guangzhou😂 really looks so much like the Great Wall! Rows of blue brick ancient walls wind along the mountain ridge. Walking on it, the breeze carries a bit of that "northern grandeur."

The first time I went, I was truly amazed. Here, not only is there an ancient city wall, but also palaces, ancient towers, stone carvings, and cliffs... it feels like you’ve wandered into a movie scene! On a clear day, you can climb to the top and gaze far out at Shiziyang of the Pearl River Estuary🌊. That vastness instantly makes your heart feel free.

Here’s something interesting—
This Lianhua City was actually built in the third year of Kangxi (1664), much older than the typical "tourist spots" we imagine! It was a coastal defense fortress built to guard against pirates, stretching 340 meters long, with battlements, bastions, stables, and horse paths, all very well preserved. Walking around really lets you feel the guarding spirit of the past, and imagining soldiers patrolling🛡️ makes it even more exciting.

Looking east from the city wall, you see the magnificent Shiziyang; to the south is the Lianhua Tower, known as the "Provincial Capital Huabiao"; to the north are clusters of villas, creating layers of scenic beauty. I recommend driving straight to the mountaintop parking lot🅿️—easy and convenient. If you don’t want to walk much, you can also take the sightseeing bus for a slow tour.

It turns out the "Great Wall" isn’t just in the north; Lingnan can have its own grandeur and romance💫
In Guangzhou, climbing a mountain, seeing a stretch of ancient wall, and feeling the sea breeze lets you encounter the warmth of history✨
