🌆 The Haikou Huacai Intercontinental Hotel was upgraded and renewed in 2023, officially becoming the first hotel in Haikou under the luxury brand "InterContinental Hotels & Resorts" of the InterContinental Hotels Group. HBA was responsible for the design renovation of the hotel lobby, lobby lounge, and all-day dining restaurant, continuing the understated luxury and modern aesthetics of the InterContinental brand, while incorporating design elements inspired by the local Nanyang overseas Chinese and maritime culture, bringing guests an extraordinary travel experience.
❤️❤️❤️
Hotel Lobby🌹
The lobby architectural space presents a broad fan shape facing the sea, like a magnificent stage with curtains wide open. Inspired by this, the designer envisioned the scene of sailors returning to port, where each sailor is the protagonist of the journey, just as every guest visiting the hotel is a VIP. The artistic combination and use of screens, lighting, and metal components cleverly reduce the massiveness of the giant structural columns inside the space, while emphasizing the sequence of screens and pillars to highlight the grand hall atmosphere of the space.
❤️❤️❤️
Lobby Lounge🌹
The lobby lounge is divided into three flexible functional areas by metal art folding screens, including a bar area, a leisure area, and a VIP reception area. The innovative design concept outlines a distinctive brand impression for the hotel.
❤️❤️❤️
As the first high-end hotel brand defined by Chinese people and tailored for Chinese consumers, Huayi was officially unveiled at the Imperial Ancestral Temple. From its inception, it has been full of InterContinental’s localized sincerity of "in China, for China." Although it does not lack hotels like No. 12 Hengshan Road Huayi in Shanghai, which was poached from the Luxury Collection, more often it has seen quiet delisting in places like Nanchang and Handan, or even projects that never came to fruition. After all, the concept of national trend aesthetics is difficult to sustain with just sentiment. Haven’t you noticed that the recently opened Haining Huayi and Bao’an Huayi mostly showcase so-called Chinese style through some hardware and visual symbols, fundamentally resembling the business-oriented Crowne Plaza more and more? The once older generation brand benchmarks, which InterContinental invested heavily in co-creating with many artists and designers, have either become bland or chosen to upgrade (Tanghua Huayi must hold on).
❤️❤️❤️
As one of the few hotels in Haikou near the south-facing coast, the Haikou Huacai Huayi, which was considered high-end from its inception, has been reborn and upgraded to the Haikou Huacai Intercontinental Hotel. This is also the second Huayi brand in Greater China to be upgraded to InterContinental. Most of the hotel rooms have sea-view balconies with good views, but the sea view is 90 degrees, not very wide. The executive sea-view rooms are divided horizontally into functional zones, with the bedroom offering a panoramic 180-degree sea view, allowing guests to enjoy the sea view even while lying down.
