"Hey!! I went to Hongdae! Oh my, it was so good! I have to tell you about it."
This restaurant is located in the Hongdae area, less than a 5-minute walk from Hongik University Station Exit 8. It's a famous Jukumi restaurant, and it's really crowded. My friend and I walked by and saw the line, and part of me was like, "Is this good?" and part of me was like, "You have to try this!" Finally, we got in line and waited about 15-20 minutes.
🍳 Atmosphere
The restaurant isn't very big, with typical Korean-style tables. At first, I thought I'd enjoy a casual, luxurious meal, but it's more like hot rice and boiling soup at the table. The atmosphere is perfect for a lively meal with friends. There's a light chattering noise from the next table, which is fun and not lonely.
🔥 I ordered the 쭈삼겹 (Jukumi + Pork Belly).
It's served on a hot plate, and the staff will stir-fry it for you right at the table, showing you the slight flame. It's so exciting! The aroma was so good that the next table turned to look!
Oh my gosh, their sauce isn't just spicy; it's also a little sweet and salty. It's so creamy, like the sauce has evenly coated everything in the pork belly and jukumi squid.
🐙 This jukumi is the best!
The squid is so fresh, chewy, and not tough at all. It's cut into bite-sized pieces, so you don't have to strain your jaw. It's truly amazing. The pork belly is perfectly fatty and not too greasy. There are also plenty of vegetables on the side, which helps cut through the richness.
🍚 The highlight! Almani Fried Rice!!
After finishing the jukumi, the staff came over to make fried rice. They used the remaining sauce to stir-fry the rice, then added eggs, kimchi, shrimp eggs, and seaweed. At that moment, I was like... my stomach was about to burst, but I had to eat it! It was the highlight!
The flavor was rich, fragrant, and creamy, with a crunchy texture from the shrimp eggs. It was so satisfying to chew. Paired with the clear soup, it was a great way to balance the flavors.
🌶️ A little spiciness warning.
We chose the "mildly spicy" option, but it was still spicy! If you can't eat spicy, I recommend sharing with someone who can, so you can help put out the fire in your mouth. LOL
👩🍳 The staff
provided excellent service. They finished frying for us and were very polite. However, because there were so many people, we sometimes had to call them again before they came. However, the staff seemed so lovely and always smiling.
📸 They're also great for taking photos.
When the fire started while they were frying, my friend immediately reached out for her phone and got a perfect shot to post on her story to get likes.
⸻
Conclusion:
If you're in Hongdae and craving something spicy, other than the usual grilled pork, you really need to come here.
It's fun, delicious, and packed with ingredients. The sauce is amazing. And the fried rice is truly heavenly.
If you go in the evening, I recommend going before 6 PM, or you'll have to wait in line for a long time.
The price isn't too expensive. It's about 15,000–17,000 won per person, filling you up and making you happy for three days.
⸻
"In conclusion, if you're in Seoul next time, we'll go with you! We'll definitely go back to this restaurant again." You have to try their fried rice!!”
