Sambal Up to Level 21 at This Hidden Spot Serving Indonesian Comfort Food

#summervacay Tucked away at Orchid Hotel near Tanjong Pagar MRT, Baby Fangs is a newly opened cosy, intimate spot by the team behind Fangko Coffee. The menu leans into bold, comforting Indonesian flavours — simple, satisfying plates with sambal that you can dial up (or down) from 0 to 21 levels of spice.

We tried their smashed fried chicken Indomie, and it was everything we hoped for — springy noodles, crispy-on-the-outside juicy-on-the-inside chicken, topped with a runny sunny-side-up egg. The spice level is fully customisable, which makes it perfect whether you want just a touch of heat or full-on fire.

The nasi lemak with rendang was another standout. The rendang was rich and tender, pairing beautifully with the fragrant blue pea coconut rice. It came with all the essentials — crispy keropok, tempeh, tauhu, a sunny-side-up egg, and their punchy sambal that really tied the whole plate together.

It’s a small space with a laidback vibe, and while the menu is focused, everything we tried was thoughtfully done. If you’re craving hearty Indonesian comfort food with the option to turn up the heat, Baby Fangs is worth checking out.
